High Ferritin

I had my annual blood tests done in November and my ferritin level was high so my gp asked me to come back in 3 - 4 months to redo them and see if it was a temporary increase. I had them done again recently and they've gone up to almost double the highest level in the normal range.

I'm having full abdominal, pelvic and internal ultrasounds later this week. Has anyone else experienced high ferritin?

I know this is an old one, and I hope the op is ok. Has anyone else come back with very high ferritin.

My son. He has haemachromatosis. He’s had a test to see if it’s hereditary (I think) and he’s waiting to hear what treatment is but I believe it’s giving blood every week.

It’s a non specific marker of inflammation so often doesn’t mean much.

Thanks both.

I hope your son is ok.
