Could this be a hernia?

I've had a low grade ache in my right abdomen area, about 3 finger widths in from my right hip bone, for around 2-3 months. My GP referred me for a pelvic ultrasound, which came back normal. Some days I forget about it but I've become more worried about it recently as a friend was diagnosed with bowel cancer very young.
No change in bowel habits, no blood in stool. GP said she could hear gas moving around if she pressed on my bowel but I don't think grassiness explains why the pain is always in the same place, does it?
I called my GP today and said I'm not happy being sent away with no answers. I suggested appendix and hernia problems, she said it wasn't an appendix problem as it was the wrong place, but could be an abdominal wall hernia so is referring me for a scan to check that. She said she'd also refer me for blood test for inflammatory bowel markers.
I have a heavy 2 year old and thought it could be muscle strain from lifting her. Another GP also mentioned adhesions.
Anyone with any advice on any of these please shout- I'm pretty scared here. Thanks
