Very itchy R breast

For the past two weeks I've had a really itchy R breast an nipple. Nothing on the left one, right only.

Because I've been scratching the skin is now red there and feels patchy. I've had no change to my washing powder, shower gel or anything, use a regular unperfumed moisturiser and don't wear lacy bras or anything, just cotton ones.

Any idea what could be causing it, or what I need on it? It's driving me mad. Just itches day and night.

Should also add that I had pain like a really bad stitch on the outside of the breast for a week but none apparent in 5 days or so, just the itching.

Wondering if it's some sort of eczema?

Is it an intense itching? Iam asking as my cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and the symptom she had which took her to see her GP was intense itching on her breast.
I very much doubt this is what you have and dont mean to alarm you.

Foodylicious · 15/04/2018 11:53

Any chance it's shingles?

Can you Google a few pics?

StewPots · 15/04/2018 11:56

@ReturnofSaturn yes it's like a really sudden itch that I must scratch (although I don't really do that I kind of rub it to avoid further irritation or breaking the skin).

It's ok, I have read about the BC link. But I am early 30s, no family history so very low risk for that, I'm thinking it's just a weird eczema type thing but don't want to bother the GP if I can get something from a chemist instead :)

@Foodylicious no I don't think so, google just shows eczema but mine doesn't look like the pictures so maybe it's not?

I'm very tired and not feeling myself at all at the moment, haven't been feeling "right" for a while and was meaning to ask GP to see if I can get bloods done. Maybe I'll write a list of my symptoms and try and get in this week.

Please go and get it checked by GP and referred to a clinic.
I know what you wrote about your age and history but if it is inflammatory breast cancer, (highly highly unlikely) it is aggressive and affects younger women.
I don't want to be alarmist but please go and get it checked.

I have this on my left breast, been like this for abut a month or so.

I had a mamogram a couple of years ago which was clear so I decided it couldn't be anything serious.

However, I guess it doesn't mean I should leave it as I have been doing, so I'll see my GP to based on this thread just to be on the safe side.

I have a weird, itchy rash that suddenly popped up on my left breast today. It was exactly like I'd been stung or reacted to something. It itched like crazy!

Luckily my DP is a GP so I sent him the photo and he diagnosed me over the phone as having a fungal skin infection. I got the appropriate cream (OTC) and it's clearing up already.

Sorry if TMI, but I thought the photos might help!

@Pandoraphile thank you for those, I thought it could be something like that tbh. But the scaly patch that's now come up is only in the place where the itching began IYSWIM from where I've been scratching?

It's now the whole breast but no rash on the other side? I'm calling GP today try and get seen! Hopefully I will :)

I had that bought some calamine and glycerine cream from boots, it cleared it up within a day or so.

Pibplob · 18/04/2018 10:11

Wow. I’ve had this for the last month or so but in my left. It started with pain and now just itches. Not constantly but every couple of days it will start up. It also feels quite tender but I don’t know why. No lumps or anything abnormal that I can see. I have just realised that I did change my shower gel so I may change that back. I put the pain down to I’ll fitting bras but now I get a wind type pain behind my breast that seems to vibrate. It’s very strange. Hoping that changing my shower gel may help.

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 18/04/2018 10:20

You really need to go and see your GP. Intense itching of the breast is one of the signs of breast cancer but doesn't mean that it is! Easier said than done, but try not to panic. It could be a condition that needs to be treated with fungal cream or similar

How did your appointment go stewpots?
