Podiatrist or Pedicure?

Raven88 · 12/04/2018 18:01

I have problems with my toe nails and sometimes they get ingrown at the corners. I am currently growing them out because treating them myself has made them worse. I don't know if I should see a private podiatrist or I just need a pedicure. Picture below. Sorry in advance. Any advice welcome.

No, not a pedicure, that 's just cosmetic. The sides need to grow and nails cut straight across. You should get professional help from a podiatrist or chiropodist. Don't cut them low at the sides

You need to see a foot health professional, chiropodist or podiatrist. A pedicure is just a glorified buff and nail paint.

your feet look a lot like mine. Unfortunately I have to go to the podiatrist every 6 weeks

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Looks like you have a fungi toe nail infection too. That's not going to help. Make a GP appointment and shove your feet in their face ... a little treatment for the nails will do wonders.

Madbengalmum · 12/04/2018 18:22

Gp will only prescribe a ineffectual cream for fungal, an fhp or pod will sort out infected nail and ingrown toenail at same time.

Mine are so much better though since I have gone and look much better

Raven88 · 12/04/2018 19:19

I have always thought I had an infection but I was told it was staining from dark polish. Definitely going to go to the doctors and. If they don't help I'll go to the private podiatrist.

Seriously, a foot specialist will sort it far better than gp.

A gp is likely to send you to a podiatrist anyway via nhs just take longer
