Hi mummies ,

I am looking for a recommendation for a good developmental paediatrician in London where they could do a general developmental assessment on my 15 months old son ? Kindly recommend if anyone have seen one ?

Many thanks Smile

I think this might be better posted in Local? Or chat?

This board has just been started for heath care professionals to chat about the 'industry' so would be unlikely to make recommendations on referrals. Good luck.

Hi Jkoo1331 - we'll move this over to general health for you shortly. Hope that helps!

I saw one with my ds when he was about 18 months. I think, anything younger and they struggle to give any meaningful info, but I am sure it depends what you want to do the assessment for.

I asked my GP, even though we saw someone through private healthcare and were not specifically 'referred' as such, it was just something I wanted to do because I had concerns. The GP had no concerns at that stage. I would recommend my Consultant but it was 11 years ago and I am not sure what he is up to these days! It is hard to get a recommendation from other parents, I think, and I was told there are two different types of developmental paediatrician (I am not sure of the classifications now), so to ensure you get the right type, it may be better to see your GP.

Won't your gp refer you? If you have genuine concerns then insist on a referral on a referral. I asked to see one as second opinion . She was thorough and agreed my son had some sn and not that I was a paranoid mother( came from a consultant paed!!) although it was a hideous time we got going with early intervention and my son is doing better than predicted . Good luck .
