No period

33 yo, one dc aged 20mo. Period is usually regular (same date, same length, same cycle every month) but is 4 days late this month. Its not possible that I’m pregnant.

I started a diet/excercise plan after my last period - 1400 cal/day, 4 work outs a week, low carb high protein. Is it possible that this has affected my cycle? I was under the impression that only very rigorous exercise/very low calorie diet would do this and only after a prolonged time of doing it.

The only other possibility I can think of is I have been stressed this month - moving house plans and some old wounds have been reopened with some recent news articles which I have found distressing.

I guess I’m asking if the above is enough to make my period late or whether I should be concerned about something else.

TIA

stop worrying. It's only 4 days. It's most likely the stress. No, your work out doesn't sound extreme. Not enough to alter your cycle. Athletes sometimes miss periods but only when they over train and / or lose a lot of body fat. Periods also alter over one's life. They can be regular for years then suddenly you might get a spell of longer cycles or shorter then they all go back to regular...it's all normal. In fact it's NOT normal (average) to have the same cycles for a long long time.

Hi Malteasers, that’s really put my mind at rest. Thank you so so much. If it doesn’t come within a certain amount of time, should I do anything?
