i just seem to get one after the other. i am symptom free for a while, then what do you know, i get another sore throat.

i can feel another one coming on tonight, and i'm still acoughing up phlegm from the last one (sorry, tmi).

anyone else experienced this? does taking vitmin c actually make a difference?

I get lots of colds if I don't take very expensive multi vitamins. That's the only way I avoid them.

Hi, try taking Immunovite from Cytoplan . It's made a huge difference to me, dh and ds (4).

I've had a fair few in the last couple of months grrr. I've got one now.

I don't think taking vit C works - how old are your children? I'm picking mine up from them annoyingly.

Excuse the TMI but do you get heavy periods? I find that, because I'm mildly anaemic, if I don't remember to take iron, I feel worse and tend to pick up more colds iyswim.

My sister swears by echinacea and i've heard that zinc is good to prevent colds too.

noonar · 11/05/2007 20:27

ok, thats helpful, thanks. i will def start taking some supplement or other.

puffling, which vits do you take?

fox, i dont think i'm anaemic, tbh.

I take these:

I'm not a veggie, but the ones for vegetarians are very potent.

I've had one cold after another for most of the last couple of years and in the end (even though I eat healthily and have never been aneamic even when pg) I started taking a multivit and iron - no colds since..kids have had one cold and one lot of tummy bug recently and I didn't catch them.

themoon66 · 11/05/2007 23:15

I haven't had a proper cold for at least 8 years.... honestly. It's since I took up running... at the first sign, like that smell of a cold in your nose... I go for a damn hard, sweaty run and get the adrenalin pumping. Works every time.

Cured my hayfever too.

noonar · 13/05/2007 19:00

thanks all

v interesting moon. might just give that a try. whats the scientific explanation fro taht, dyou think?

puffling. will ttry some of those.

no, its def not hayfever. i do have a dust allergy, though, but can def tell the difference.

I did mention it to one of the doctors at work who said the hayfever was kept at bay due to big doses of adrenalin i produce when running.

The colds stay away because, I think, I get loads of fresh air and the blood gets pumped around quicker, plus my general fitness is above average, so able to fight the cold and 'flu bugs better..... well thats only my theory.
