Fitting baby - very frightening

I just had a call from a close friend. She was in hospital having just been rushed there by ambulance after her 9 month ds started fitting and went blue, she really thought he was going to die but they arrived just in time She's obviously distraught and in tears was confiding that she thinks he has developmental problems too - not sitting yet, not trying to crawl and not babbling. She thinks he might have epilepsy as the hospital can find no obvious cause for the fit - no temperature, no apparent illness of any kind. I just don't know how to advise her - apart from the obvious stuff - Has anyone experienced this kind of thing?

The only fitting both my DSs had as babies was brought on by high fever - I think its called febrile convulsions. Even though I recognised what it was, it was still very, very frightening. No expereince of epilepsy but lots of love to your friend who must be very worried

welshmum ((hugs)) from me

I know you most probably 'dont' want to hear this but I know from experience that alot of children with special needs (syndromes) do have fits, so it could be likely that there is a problem. But hopefully the hospital will run some tests now to find out what is going on. Your poor friend, it must be a very worrying time for her
