Labryinthitis and flashing lights when eyes closed

Has anyone experienced a flashing strobe like light when their eyes are closed while suffering from labrynthitis? I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago but this new symptom when I am going to sleep has only started in the last week.

Yes I've had it twice and had vertigo which included moving lights when my eyes were closed x

Thank you very much for replying, it is reassuring to know that it is an expected symptom as I was quite worried. Sorry to hear you have also had the same illness, plus vertigo aswell, and hope you are completely well now x

A short course of stemetil or similar from your doc (5 days etc) helped get over the worst of the flashing lights.

Poor you, its grim. It DOES pass though....

Thank you Nolo for that advice, I'm going to make an appointment to go back to the doctor x

Totally empathise o.p, I've had it three times, 2 were worse than the 3rd and I've experienced that flashing when eyes are closed too. I think it's to do with perception being out of sync and the brain still trying to process things/'re balance when your eyes are closed as they are having to work so much harder than usual to make sense of surroundings when they're open, iyswim. Best wishes and hope you're over it soon Flowers

Thank you so much x
