Sudden incontinence?!

Um, so apparently this is happening. Very suddenly leaking urine today, not a little. Doesn't seem in any way related to coughing/sneezing/stress or even the urge to pee. Just happening. Luckily I'm home and nothing damaged (well, perhaps my pride), but wtf? No signs of a UTI, and though I've had bad sciatica in the past, all seems quiet on that front - apart from mild back pain, which my GP tells me is muscular.

DH "helpfully" tells me it's just my "body getting older", but I'm in my 30s, and haven't even had any babies, nor am I pregnant, and I've never had any reason to doubt my pelvic floor.

Is this something to worry about, or do I just have to send DH for incontinence pads and start doing more pelvic floor exercises?!

So glad you are going into hospital, make sure you have an MRI- don't get fobbed off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you it's not cauda equina xx

IWantMyHatBack · 04/04/2018 23:02

Completely agree that an MRI is required, insist if you have to.

AggroTanks · 05/04/2018 01:18

Back home, no MRI. (Sorry!) They thought no other signs of cauda equina (they did all the muscle tone stuff, finger up the bum etc), and the leakage seems to have stopped. No UTI, either. A&E was ridiculously busy, and honestly I was just happy to get out of there. Just tired. Obviously will seek more help if it continues, or I get pain or numbness or anything.

Get your B12 and folate checked.

calamariqueen · 05/04/2018 07:25

Do you have any problems initiating going for a wee? I guess if it was CES you would be in a lot of pain, so on balance it's probably not that. Hope you're feeling reassured by going to Drs.

With a backache and sudden incontinence I wonder if you perhaps had some small kidney stones
