Nail fungus :(

Oh my toe nails on one foot are disgusting :( I went to the gp ages ago but they were unwilling to give me tablets & suggested the stuff from the chemist that you use overnight & scrape off but it’s just getting worse not better

It’s so horrible with warmer weather on the way I can’t wear sandals :(

Anyone had any luck using tea tree & oregano oil? I’ve been reading online that might work

I’ve had this and I used Boots own label anti fungus treatment, it’s like a felt pen and you apply it in the morning and at night for a week.
I used it on each of my big toes and it worked quite quickly

My big toenail started getting crumbly about six months ago - I think I'd left my nail varnish on for too long.

I used teatree oil every day for a couple of weeks and occasionally since then whenever I remember and it's grown back fine.

It certainly won't hurt anyway - but it would be worth going back to the drs and asking for the tablets.

Neat tea tee oil on and as far under the nail as possible every single day, without fail. It finally then grew out as the nail grew out, which took about 6 months - using the tea tree oil every day to stop the infection growing back into the healthy nail.

Vaporub worked for me. I don't know how but after a week or so of applying it to the nail with a cotton bud, the effected part just broke off. This happened on two different nails.

Bleach solution worked for me. Every day for 2 weeks.

Tea tree oil on neat has also worked for me. Bodycare do a pure but cheap one because a couple of bottles are required. I must admit, I also cut the nail away where the damaged part was and put the tea tree oil in that area too (weird toes; long story). It's gone though and it looks like a normal toenail again. I did that after a shower every morning so the toenail was softer.

Why wouldn't they give you tablets? Do you have other health problems? If more than a quarter of the nail is affected topical treatments won't work. Any treatment you use will take months for the nail to grow back healthy so if you get started soon they might look ok by the summer.

The gp just said they preferred not to give the tablets unless absolutely necessary as they can give side effects & to try other things first

I’ll get tea tree oil & vapor rub and get started
