GPs as gatekeepers

I may well be shot down in flames....but, I have absolutely no confidence in GPs.
I have been in a great deal of pain (intermittent) since December with flank pain and have been back-and-forth to doctors. On a return visit I saw a different doctor who carried out a urine test and found blood. I was told to go away and come back in a month to be retested. Still blood. So I was referred to a urologist and have had both a CT scan and a custom copy - both clear.
I know have to go back to the GP. I have asked whether the issue could be adrenal related, but was ignored. I am so miserable and disheartened. I have private medical cover (through partners work), but even so I still need a referral by GP.
Needless to say I'll be very happy if all turns out yo be a pulled muscle or gas🙂 Or something innocuous. Equally, in the middle of the night when I can't sleep for the pain, I panic that all this time something more sinister is going on in my abdomen.
Apologies for the rant - I feel strangely lighter having got some of that out of my system.

You don’t always need a GP referral for private appointment

I saw an endocrinologist privately without a GP referral . Why do you think it could be adrenal ?

Thanks, good to know
