Bruised breast. Should I worry ?

Four days ago I tripped and landed against my bike, the handlebar end went into my breast. It hurt, obviously! The pain was fairly deep in the breast, and the bruising has taken a few days to appear. The whole thing has been sore and painful, but it was quite a bash, so I wasn’ surprised. Now I’m getting occasional shooting pain, is this a worry ? I’m not breastfeeding or anything. Friend has also “helpfully” mentioned that knocks to the breast can trigger breast cancer, so as this is still so painful and was a bad knock, I’m also really worrying about that.

Ignore what your friend said...nonsense!
Sounds a nasty bump, I am sure it will settle in a few days.

Bruising can definitely be a sign of BC (my mum had unexplained bruising on one of hers which her GP dismissed as being from leaning against something Hmm ) but as you have a legitimate reason for it I wouldn't worry. If the bruising had appeared out of nowhere then it would be a different story. Your friend has the wrong end of the stick re: BC being caused by the bruise though.

I think the article she read said that cancer can occur years later but is triggered by the blow. Obviously nothing I can do now anyway, so I really wish she hadn’t told me. Breast still tender but bruising turning yellow and starting to fade. I was worried maybe I had actually done some damage to the breast, but the shooting pains have stopped.
