Nipple extreme pain/bitten

I have 2.1 year old DD2 who breastfeeds to sleep and sometimes when wakes up during the night. Yes definitely a bad move on my part.

Anyway last week she was unwell and had throat infection and a. Rash that was either impetigo or eczema (different doctors told us different things).

She's well on the mend but this meant she wasn't eating and was breastfeeding instead and doing it very roughly. Now I have bites that have punctured the skin and mad the glands swollen and cracked. Sore is an understatement it's like being cut with glass. If I'm asleep and she latches onim startled awake in agony.

She will not sleep without it. Spend 2.5 hours the other night trying like I have been on and off since 12 months.

Any ideas the best way to heal them/prevent further agony? I'm on antibiotics as Dr was worried it would get infected but quite rightly was more worried about DD2s health.

Any advice appreciated.

I would try applying lansonoh nipple cream and air dry to heal the broken skin. I would pump in the meantime (slowly to prevent stretching the skin/puncture wound) and give her bm in a bottle until healed.

When mine were 2yo I started giving them the option of feed or a story. You may find story attractive enough if you make it sound fun.

Try giving her cold drinks/ice droplets and honey & glycerin tonic for her throat. Keep an eye on their latch to prevent any further damage. A cool compress might ease your pain.

Nipple shields?

Boots sells things you can use to bandage burns - they're small gel pads you put on a burn before wrapping it in bandages. Keeps the would from scabbing over but it heals under the seal. Those are good on injured nipples too.

At 2 she's old enough to understand that you're sore and your nipples need a break Flowers

Jenny she's very smart but when it comes to feeds she acts oblivious :)

Thanks for all the advice.
