Possibly a Bartholin cyst? They are quite common and cause no harm. I have had one myself.

ladybirdlove91 · 02/04/2018 10:48

yeah those came up on my google search. ( i know i shouldnt do) never heard of them before. thank you for replying

No problem - it would still do no harm to get it checked if it doesn’t go away but it’s nothing the doc won’t havw seen before.

SnookieSnooks · 02/04/2018 11:15

Could be just a straightforward zit.

Try not to worry too much.

PollyPerky · 02/04/2018 11:15

MN seems a bit obsesses with Bartholins cysts. If you have one you'd know about it. They are sore, inflamed and need bursting by a dr or antibiotics.

It could be a spot, something called a Fordyce spot (bit like a wart but not a wart) or even an ingrowing hair depending where it is.

Qcumber · 02/04/2018 11:18

I've had a bartholin's cyst and it wasn't painful at all. I left it for years until it became a bit of a nuisance but definitely never sore. I went to the gp and was referred to have it removed. They did it under GA and it healed very quickly. It's been years and it hasn't returned. I think it's worth having it looked at if it doesn't go away. Definitely don't try squeezing/popping it yourself.

Fordyce spots

PollyPerky · 02/04/2018 11:19

Q some women have them that are agony and have to rush to A&E- and they can grow to the size of a small egg if the gland is completely blocked.

ladybirdlove91 · 02/04/2018 11:33

yeah im due my period in the next week or so, im gonna see if it goes after. i normally get something 2 weeks before im due. if not ill go to the doctors and hopefully ask for a female dr

I know Polly. Sorry I didn't mean for my post to sound as if I was disagreeing with you! I just wanted to mention that they don't always hurt so not to rule it out completely. I was very lucky that mine was just a bit in the way with no other symptoms.

MrsJoker · 02/04/2018 21:22

Mine was teeny tiny and disappeared without any treatment at all. Theres a huge variation in how bad they can be. I was obviously one of the lucky ones.

MissTulipan · 03/04/2018 17:42

Could be a small cyst, they can go away on their own. If it hasn’t gone soon I would get it checked. My gp said they are very common.

MarthaArthur · 03/04/2018 17:44

Boiled water on a wsh cloth as cool s you can stand on it 3 times a day. Thats what i was advised and it works within a week.

ladybirdlove91 · 03/04/2018 18:14

thank you, i shall try that __

As hot as you can stand i mean sorry. The heat helps draw out whats inside. I was advised this by a nurse and other people and it works very well. It can be a cyst not necessarily the one mentioned. Very common there.

Qcumber · 03/04/2018 19:31

Just to mention, when I had mine he said he could drain it but with cysts the sack can refill over time and you have to drain it again. So he suggested removing the whole thing and it hasn't returned in 6 years.

BettyBaggins · 03/04/2018 20:05

Bartholins can get bigger than an egg..... Blush

ladybirdlove91 · 06/04/2018 16:27

Hello! I had something very similar a couple of months ago, turned out to be a plain old sebaceous cyst but I was absolutely beside myself until I’d had it looked at! Where exactly is the spot, if you don’t mind me asking?

ladybirdlove91 · 11/04/2018 19:11

sorry about the bad diagram, i drew a dot where roughly it is. but inside more.

D.H looked again for.me, its the normal colour.as.all.of the area down there is, it had a white tinge before.
