Sore mole going to make GP appt after easter

This is it. I’ve been looking at photos that are years old and I’ve always had a little mole there that I can see. But not sure if I’ve always had the lighter coloured glossy bit. Anyway, broke my shoulder last October and sitting, chairbound with nothing to do, I noticed this mole and it was a bit itchy. Anyway I scratched it and kept playing with it and basically ended up taking the head off it. At the time kept thinkOMG that once I was mobile again I’d go and get it checked out. Anyway, getting mobile took time and i was dependent on people for ages so it healed over and I sort of forgot about it. But it’s started bothering me again, it’s back to looking how it did when I first saw it but it feels bruised. If I put pressure on it with my finger I can make all the colour go from it. I wonder if it even is a mole but either way I’m worried it’s dodgy.

It looks similar to what I have. Does it feel quite hard? I'll attach a photo of mine. I can't remember what it's called but it's not a mole and it's not dangerous. Had mine for years and years. During my last smear a nurse asked if it has been checked out because it looks so worrying.

Hopefully what you have is harmless too.

I don't know if you can see from the photo but I have a shiny thinner bit in the middle and the edge is raised and dark. I wish I could remember the name of it now. Mine itches at times and it developed over a couple of years, started off looking very similar to yours.

I spent many months when my anxiety was bad worrying about it. I was working at the hospital at the time and I had many dermatologists and plastic surgeons check it out for me.

Definitely make an appointment ASAP though.

Yes that looks exactly like mine. If you remember the name of it let me know. I’ve had a horrid year of it, I’ve had three biopsies to determine whether I have thyroid cancer, (thankfully I don’t) and a friend who’s terminally ill
With bowel cancer that got ignored by the dr until It was too late....so now I’m really anxious. I would never have spotted my thyroid nodules - a vigilant go spotted it when I went to see her about something totally unrelated but it got me thinking that if I was totally oblivious to this lump in my neck (which once pointed out to me was so bloomin’ obvious) what else am I not noticing. Does that make sense? Hopefully
It’s nothing to worry about. Also waiting foenth results of my most recent smear which are late arriving. It doesn’t help an anxious person. 😭😭

Thank you for sharing your photograph - I’ve not found one by googling.

It is quite hard actually. Did yours sometimes hurt when you press on it? It feels a bit like when you have a spot that needs bursting.

Yes, it does hurt when I press on it. Not always, but at times.

Sounds like you have had a rough time of it lately Thanks

I remember the name! Dermatofibromas.
