sick with worry lung problem

dh has received a letter from consultant . it says that his scan has shown scarring in his lungs which may be fibrosis and that he is being referred to someone else who understands this condition .

i have googled . there is no cure , very little treatment and life expectancy is 3-5 years .
we are scared to death . i keep bursting into tears .

is there any way this could be not so bad ? He is 48 .

I'm sorry you're going through this. My dear dad was diagnosed with this 2 years ago. There are tablets that can ease the symptoms and hold off the scarring. The fibrosis can sometimes stay the same for years so try not to worry until you've seen the specialist.
Dad's actually turned out not to be fibrosis in the end.
