Should I go to Minor Injuries?

On Monday I walloped my finger, slamming it tip-first straight into a ledge with as much force as I could. Not deliberately!

I can't use my hand properly. The joint is still painful, especially when I move it or try to use it. But it's not severely painful and it's only slightly swollen. It's not got any better since Wednesday.

Is there any point getting it seen?

Yes I would, sounds painful!

It does sound really painful but I'm not sure there is much they can/would do.

I assume you've strapped it up, taking ibuprofen/checked with a pharmacist/had a good look round the first aid section of a big supermarket/boots or similar?

If not, do as above. If you have and it's not getting any better then maybe go but with it being Easter, brace yourself for a long wait!

I ice-packed it straight away, but I haven't strapped it up. Although the wallop itself was excruciating, the pain subsided to a tolerable level, so I assumed that I hadn't broken anything and it would be better to keep mobile.

If you’ve broken it, all they can do is strap it up I think - I’d try that but if that and otc painkillers aren’t working it’s worth getting it looked at. If it’s the joint that hurts maybe it’s dislocated?
