IUD Expulsion and heavy bleeding

I had an IUD put in about 3 weeks ago and yesterday (at work) started having severe cramping after some heavy exercise.
I sat on the toilet and passed the coil with a massive clot of blood followed by a terrifying amount of bleeding. Over 6 hours I lost well over a litre of blood, with huge fresh clots (sorry for the details). I sat in A&E for 4 hours until the bleeding and cramping stopped and went home (self discharged).
Today I have been bleeding mildly With almost no pain. I felt inside my vagina and could feel some clots/ tissue coming out of my cervix. I'm worried that the expulsion has torn some of my uterus. I'm now having moderately painful cramping sensations and it feels like I am going to pass a massive clot because I can feel it with my fingers.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Is it likely that the coil has torn my insides on its way out?
Thanks!

You need to get back to see your doctor/have a scan

No idea, but sounds awful for you so bumping and hope you feel better soon!

What did they say to you at the hospital to expect/ why did you self discharge? It doesn't sound good, hope you're ok.

Update: I was right about passing the clot... I had a clot the size of half a banana last night all caught up with some kind of tissue. I'm going to my GP today and hopefully I'll get referred to a hunt.
The GP referred me to the gynaecologist and said they can possibly give me some drugs to stop the bleeding but she wasn't sure about the possibility of trauma the the uterus. I self discharged because I'd been there for 4 hours and had to go to work (silly I know).

Do you have an Urgent Treatment Centre anywhere nearby that you can get to?
