I’ve been called for a smear test, I’m not scared or embarrassed to go well I’m sure I will be when I get there but I’ve only had sex twice do I still need to go?

Yes you should go, it won't take long, the smear itself only a matter of minutes. You will be happy you did it. I was nervous the 1st time but it was done so quickly that when I had to go the next time I didn't bat an eyelid.

Ok this is embarrassing but should I shave before I get it done?

I may be misunderstanding but if this is your first smear test (so assuming you're 25) have you not had the HPV vaccine or did that start after your generation?

No you don't need to shave before a smear.

I refused to go as I just couldn't do it. Then had a few issues with periods and so on and as part of the investigations were done it was noted my smear history was - non-existent and it was recommended I have one done. So I did and honestly I couldn't believe how simple easy and pain free it was - would not hesitate to have one done now. That said, I've gone from refusing a smear to having to have an internal ultrasound, hysteroscopy and endometrial polyp removed so guess a smear test seems pretty straightfoward compared to that lot.
