Bowel cancer fear.. scared, advice please?

I had a sigmoidoscopy just before I got pregnant with my son 2 years ago, they said that some areas were difficult to see but he didn't ask for it to be repeated, this was due to rectal bleeding so I just assumed that it wasn't caused by anything serious after that and having a stool sample taken.
Recently (the past 2-3 weeks) I have been getting stomach pains, they mostly feel like period pains but sometimes in my upper stomach.. I have no appetite at all, I'm having to force myself to eat rather than my usual good appetite and I'm losing weight, and I'm passing stools 3-5 times a day on average compared to usually 1-2 and they are sometimes loose and sometimes thin.
I have seen 2 doctors and have been referred for a scan in case its my gallbladder(?) but they mostly think its IBS and/or anxiety.
Of course I have been on google and I have got myself in a state that this must be bowel cancer. I'm in that much of a mess about it I have had to move back with my parents as I couldn't focus on my little boy.
A (non blood) relative who is only a year older than me (29) was diagnosed with bowel cancer the week before I started with this a few weeks ago so I'm not sure if hearing that has triggered some major anxiety but then I have real symptoms if that makes sense?
I don't know what to do, do I keep perstering the doctors or with the amount I'm eating am I going to waste away!

Any advice or experience in anything similar would be appreciated.
Thank you

There are lots of reasons that you could have symptoms like these, not just cancer. I understand your worry though. When is your scan? And have you seen a doctor in the last 2-3 weeks since the symptoms you detail here started? If not then go back. It’s your body and your worried, that is what the gp is for.

I'd go back to your GP if I were you. I was in a similar situation to you and was basically told it was paranoia. Turned out I had a pre cancerous polyp and had it removed. I'm not saying for one minute there's anything seriously wrong with you but you know your own body.

Go back to your gp and ask them to investigate for bowel cancer or at least explain why they think it isn't. It is under diagnosed in young people (even though it is on the rise in younger age groups) and many are palmed off with diagnosis of IBS etc as there is an assumption someone so young can't have it. It may well be something else and you could be projecting because of your relative but at least if you get tested you will know one way or the other and can stop worrying. I am relatively young and have just been diagnosed with bowel cancer and in hindsight think it could have been picked up quicker - my gp diagnosed my symptoms as something else.

Thank you. Yes the last time I saw the doctor was Saturday when he said it is either 'IBS, a bug or anxiety' I'm not sure when my scan will be as I haven't had a letter yet but I assume it will be in the next month or so.
Can I ask what your symptoms were if you don't mind?
