I feel crappy. Rash stings and burns but more to the touch. But I feel awful. Tired, weak, dizzy.
Is this normal?

no idea if it's normal but will bump for you. Hope you feel better soon.

DorynownotFloundering · 27/03/2018 21:13

Sadly yes, It's crap but all you can do is rest as much as possible, loads of fluids & whatever will sooth the rash.

Have you seen a doc? They might prescribe anti viral meds which can help I'm told.

My rash went quite quickly but I got it at new year & was knocked flat for a good 3 weeks & then tired as hell for another 4, when I went back to work I was exhausted by Fridays . Only just getting my strength back now.
Sorry to be the voice of doom & obv it's not the same for alĺ but it is a bastard so look after yourself.

Yes sounds normal, I had the most horrendous headache for 2 weeks, constantly felt sick and would often be sick which I think was more the headache.
The blisters themselves were easier to cope with than everything else that went with it.
I was off work for 2 weeks and pretty much didn't leave the house during that time unless it was to see the doctor.

Hope things improve quickly for you and you are up and about gain soon.

hollytom · 27/03/2018 22:05

It will take time unfortunately. I was off work for weeks I was exhausted just walking up the stairs. I found the exhaustion the worst thing I think. If the pain is bad go back to the GP they can prescribe different types of painkillers I was on amitryptiline which helped at night. Hope it improves for you.

Thanks all
The rash is the least of my troubles. It's the fatigue and general feeling ill that is worse.

How long does the rash last? X

Shingles is an awful illness. DH had it when we first got together (I thought he was exaggerating for attention initially, as I was just recovering from a bad kidney infection Blush ) and he says its the most ill he's ever been in his life. One of my teachers was off for over a month with it too. Its really very debilitating.

NHS site says the rash can last up to 4 weeks :( did you call your GP about antiviral meds?

Mummytron · 31/03/2018 08:23

Hi
Yes have anti virals but pain is worse now then Monday. Feels like bad period pain

I had this in February, just in time for my birthday, i got antivirals just in time,i had it quite mildly i think, but had a lot of pain under my ribs, same side as rash
Try some virasoothe, from the chemist when they open again, its really good for soothing the rash, get the spray, bot the gel as it lasts longer and easier to apply,it is for children with chickenpox,
iT IS AN AWFUL THING TO HAVE ,I HOPE YOU ARE BETTER SOON
oH, AND YOU MIGHT FIND YOU SIDE WHERE THE RASH IS GOES NUMB, IT HAS ONLY JUST WORN OFF ME, VERY STRANGE FEELING,YOU COULD HAVE STUCK A NEEDLE IN ME AND I WOYLDNT HAVE FELT IT
Sorry caps on by accident

GreenTulips · 01/04/2018 10:26

Lasts a good 4 weeks if not longer - sorry!

lovemylover · 01/04/2018 11:18

Forgot to say i was given Amitriptilyne,it made me so dizzy, so Dr gave me Gabapentin in lower dose but 3 times a day, much better
I did still feel tired for a few weeks though

Mummytron · 01/04/2018 19:10

4 weeks? 😮
My rash doesn't seem to be blistering. 7 days and they are just getting less red. Got the anti virals with 48 hours. I'm tired and in pain but not so much poorly if that makes sense?
