Lumps in vagina

Hi, after giving birth 3 and half years ago I noticed that I had a smallish lump inside my vagina. I thought it might be my cervix (sorry if I sound really stupid but I read that it can be lower after birth...honestly I'm not very educated on this stuff..only learnt "vulva" from MN).

Anyway, most of the time I forgot about it but when I did look I noticed it seemed to be getting bigger. I just had a look and I think I now have two. They are inside my vagina, but right near the opening.

If it's relevant I am 30 years old and I had tearing and an episiotomy and a ventouse delivery. I had a smear a few months back which came back normal. I forgot to ask about the lump and the nurse didn't mention it(or "them" as I don't know if I had more than one at that time).

I suppose I need to go to the gp about this...but the fact nothing was mentioned when I had my smear makes me think maybe it would be wasting their time? Or should I be worried?

The fact that it’s on your mind I would suggest just booking an appointment with GP and getting it checked. If it’s all fine you can just forget about it. You are never wasting a GPs time if you have a concern.

Vaginas are not smooth tubes- they are full of ridges going across and up and down ( muscles.) It's possible you have some slackness, like a small prolapse of the walls and it's a fold that is bulging. Are you doing your pelvic floor lifts? If not, the regime is 30 a day split into 3 sets of 10 lifts (and hold each lift for 10 seconds.) You have to really work on this for 3-6 months to see progress. But see your GP and they may refer you to a women's physio.

Thank you both. I try and do pelvic floor lifts but don't remember every day. I'm doing them right now! Prolapse of the walls? That doesn't sound nice. I was less concerned when it was just one and it was smaller but now there are two and they look bigger I do feel more worried. They are like round lumps. I will go to the gp, thank you, just wanted reassurance that it wouldn't be a waste of their time. Flowers

Maybe a bartholin cyst?

Iflyaway · 27/03/2018 18:15

Yes, go to the GP.

They could also be genital warts.

Loobyanna · 27/03/2018 18:32

Do genitals warts have to be sexually transmitted? If so I think that's unlikely but I don't know. Have only had one partner for over 9 years (and we haven't slept together for nearly a year).

Apart from my partner I have always used a condom. I was raped about 11 years ago however and I don't know if he wore a condom. I went to a GUM clinic after and got a full sti test done and came back clear for everything. Is it possible they would have been missed on the test? And not have shown up until now?

Pram I've not heard of Bartholin cysts but they do look cyst-like to me.

Hopefully GP can put my mind at rest and get rid of them before they get any bigger, whatever they are.

A Barth cyst is in a very precise place- the Bartholin gland either side of the vagina. They are very painful because it's a blocked gland that secretes moisture. Doesn't sound like that at all OP.

Warts are small- again, doesn't sound like a wart. More likely given your difficult delivery is slackness.

This might sound weird but could it be a poo? If you need a poo, it feels like a lump in there. Apologies if you already realised this!

Loobyanna · 27/03/2018 21:09

Haha furry I do know what you mean but it definitely isn't that Grin

Sorry Looby. Fair enough! Hope you get it sorted and it isn't indeed a giant poo! 😀
