Stomach problems for 2 weeks.. getting worried help please?

For the past 2 weeks I have had pain which is mainly in the upper part of my stomach in the centre. Its not an unbearable its more of a discomfort that occasionally is painful, it can go to either side also.
I also have lost my appetite, I'm having to force myself to eat and I'm having several BM's a day compared to normal where I just go once or twice.
I've got myself very anxious about what this could be.
The GP mentioned possibly gallstones but I thought they were severe pain?
The worry about this is really affecting my life now.
Has anyone had anything similar?

My son has been suffering with this for a month, finally had to go to Drs
No real explanation for it, but gave him mebeverine and it stopped straight away, but he is going on holiday next week, and i think it might be just to ease him over until he is back from holiday,
Where my son is concerned he has other health problems, so might be connected with them, but the mebeverine and omeprazole he was gioven seem to help.also short course of steroids
I would just go to your Dr and get checked over,
It sounds to me that my son could have Colitis, as these could be symptoms of it
My daughter has Crohns and this is how she started, but it depends on your age, Crohns starts when people are younger than my son
It could also be Gastritis, [not gastroenteritis] its different
My daughter ha this recently and thought it was her Crohns flaring up,turned out it was Helicobacter Pyloris, a short course of ABs and lansaaprozole cured it
Hope you get it sorted soon, but need to see Dr i think, to rule things out

Thank you lovemylover, I have some mebeverine but it didn't seem to make much difference. Has you son lost his appetite too like I have? I was thinking Colitis but then again I have convinced myself that it is bowel cancer. I'm 29. I saw 2 GPs and they have referred me for a scan in case it is my gallbladder which I don't believe that it will be, and other than they they just think its 'a bug, IBS or anxiety'
