How long can it be for my period to return?

Although I'm not ready for the next baby yet....!! I am wondering when my period will return. I breastfed exclusively until DD was 6 months, and she's now almost 10 months. Can it take this long for the menstrual cycle to kick back in? Ideas of how long others took would be useful. Thanks.

got preg with no af 9 months after dd.

am 9 months post birth now but am still night feeding and feeding more during the day so i think it might be longer this time.

I breastfed DS1 exclusively for 4 months (when he was weaned ) and continued to feed him until he was 14 months old my periods didn't come back until he was nearly 1yr old.

if you are not ready for another baby yet, use some additional contraception, as breastfeeding not always effective!

I fully stopped breastfeeding at around 6 months, so thought my system would adjust quicker. Can understand it may take longer if still some feeds in place.

I learned from my Mum, who had my brother 13 months after me.. to use belts and braces. She was breasfeeding and had the coil (which got lost?!?) so I've been using contraceptive from the start. It's the mini-pill so maybe that's postponed my period?
