Help please, knee injury

I lifted my leg so I could rotate my ankle as it was hurting and locking when I walked and suddenly my knee felt and sounded like it snapped.

It’s been giving me a few problems lately with the knee locking or feeling like it’s going sideways. The leg is also swollen due to Paniculitis. Trying not to drip feed so giving full info.

Knee is now agony whenever I bend it, feels like it’s locking and I cry out with the pain.

I’ve got it elevated and taken Naproxen. Also on antibiotics for the Paniculitis.

Any advice at all, or what could have happened? I’ve had minor episodes in past but nothing this bad before.

I’m off to Disneyland Paris on Sunday so lots of walking 🙁

It's difficult to know without seeing your knee but locking + pain on movement without an obvious injury sounds very much like a meniscal tear. If so, you should go to A&E or a Minor Injuries Unit if your knee is truly "locked", i.e. it cannot be straightened. Otherwise, they usually settle down over a few days/weeks, although often recur again in the future as it sounds as if you've discovered already.

It sounds like a meniscal tear to me too.

I'm currently in physio for tears on both sides.

Thanks for replies. Saw doctor yesterday who was very vague. Could be stretched ligaments, might be meniscal but unlikely. No point in X-ray if soft tissue.

Have to rest, could be 6-8 weeks, then if not better, physio, scan, .

Don’t feel like he was much help.

Currently resting, raising, icing. Taking Naproxen.

Have cancelled holiday 😢😢
