Cystisis timeline

I know that sex can cause cystisis so I’m usually pretty carefully to go to the loo fairly quickly after DTD, and had so far managed to avoid it for my whole adult life. (Ever since a very confusing conversation as a child with my grandma who asked me if my bowels had moved when she saw I wiped the wrong way - I assured her that they hadn’t moved and were exactly where they’d always been)

Anyway. Unfortunately I’m lying in bed with an ache in my bladder despite just going to to loo. I was just wondering if there’s a typical timeline - like how long in general is it usually from having sex to symptoms first appearing? And how long before it’ll get better?

I've experienced cystitis symptoms the day after having sex. It's an awful feeling, isn't it? I used to get them quite frequently. I would usually see if my body could clear the infection on its own (I would drink lots of water, avoid caffeine and take painkillers if necessary) but if the symptoms didn't ease within a day or so I'd go to the GP to get antibiotics. No point suffering. Hope you get better soon!
