That's it really. Started with pins and needles, then paralysed in one side. Taken to hospital by ambulance. Wore off after about an hour. Now waiting for outpatient appointment for Stroke Clinic. Can't drive till have been properly diagnosed. I'm only 40.

How scarey for you. Do you have any of the usual risk factors, are strokes at a young age in your family?

Medication and changes in life style can cut the risk of it happening again by a huge amount.

I have a friend who had a stroke aged 34! she's fine now BTW. Hope your appointment comes through quickly - and take it easy

Sounds like you had a Transient Ischaemic Attack. Needs investigating but not necessarily serious prognosis.

Thanks for messages. I feel fine, just a bit tired. DS2's birthday today so luckily DH has day off. Just arranging lifts to school for DS1 and DS2 till hopefully I can drive again. DS3 will just have to watch a lot of cbeebies - he'll love that!

Just seems one of those things that happen to other people but I am probably quite high risk - overweight and too little exercise. I don't smoke though, have perfect blood pressure and only have the odd glass of wine.

Appointment will be within 2 weeks.
