Painful breast lump

So.. I started having soreness in my left breast late last summer or so. It wasn't constant, and tbh felt a lot like the very start of mastitis/blocked duct back when I was still breastfeeding. I booked an appt last week as it was more persistent and thought I should. The nurse found a lump. Logic dictates it's a cyst; she says I have 'cystic breasts' which feel like cauliflower (charming). I have a 'non-urgent' referral to the breast clinic, and no idea how long that'll take. But I'm shitting myself tbh, even though I know in all likelihood it's just a cyst. I haven't even told my husband, and I don't really feel close enough to any of my friends at the moment to tell them, I don't want to worry my mum while she's on holiday, so I'm posting here in the void just to get it out. It's very rare that anything sinister would present as pain in the breast. I know it's scary, but I'm sure there puspose of this referral is just to confirm it's nothing to worry about. Keep your head up, talk to the people around you if you need to! X

Yes! It is rare, and wouldn't make sense given other factors of age etc. Thank you. I am 99% sure it is a cyst, as it makes a lot of sense. I have had a comedy of errors with my health in the last year - nothing other than very low iron was ever wrong, it's just that separate incidents had drs testing for everything from coeliac to MS to brain swelling. I am reluctant to tell anyone about yet another test for what turns out to be nothing. And throwing it out in writing has helped. Ta!
