Not a UTI so what is it?

I have suffered from cystitis since I was a teen.

Sometimes I can go for years without an outbreak but in the last two months I've had three attacks although two were relatively mild.

Last week I felt one coming on and trotted off to the GPS. Got prescribed antibiotics bur as the week progressed it got worse and spent all of Saturday in the walk in centre to see what was going on.

As there was no trace of an infection in my urine sample I got sent off to a&e as I was experiencing pain in my side.

My bloods showed no infection and on Sunday it started to improve.

I've been taking Urva Ursi which has definitely made a diference but I still have the ocassional need to wee.

The a&e doctor ruled out intertestinal cystitis as there were no markers in my bloods and said he believed three doses of antibiotics had inflamed my bladder and I shoukd cut out caffeine and booze for a week to give it a chance to calm down.

I had no pain when I urinated just a general feeling of something not being right 'down there' bit I'm worried it's going to come back.

I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar?

Endometriosis can cause cyclical UTI-type pain . . . does it happen around a certain time of the month?

My samples never show infections so I’ve had some horrible experiences trying to clear it

No ir just comes out of the blue but I will keep a track to see if it coincides with my period.

I've been taking a combination of probiotics, d-mannoose capsules and uva ursi and it seems to have shifted it. Ive also avoided caffeine all week so that my have helped too.

Possibly overactive bladder? I am going through something similar at the moment and I am on trospium chloride meds now. Still feel something isn’t quite right though.

I've been through this, I can sympathise ladies. I was on all sorts of antibiotics until in the end it just went on its own. I'm sure I had an antibiotic resistant infection. Nothing much ever showed up on the tests though. I had it for three months a couple of summers ago.

I was coming on here to start a thread about Urethral Diverticulum - when I saw your thread. Ask your GP to refer you to a urologist and get a proper diagnosis - I wish I’d asked years ago.

Sallycinnamum · 17/03/2018 11:38

littlecalf I've never heard of that before although I hsve heard of diverticulitis as my grandmother suffered from it.

I'll see how I go over the next few months before asking to be referred.

Little calf I'd be interested in your thread!
I did wonder if I had what you've mentioned.
