Root canal - temporary packing falling out

I had a root canal done two weeks ago. The dentist was unable to finish it for various reasons and packed it temporarily. It is due to be finished next Friday. For the last week, layers of the temporary stuff have been coming out, leaving me with a huge hole in my tooth. Just now, what feels like the last bit in the main hole came out.

Does anyone know if I need to get it sorted or is it ok to leave til next Friday? Food is getting caught in it but I'm making a huge effort to keep it clean. There's not much pain as the nerve has been removed. Any dentists that could advise?

I am absolutely not a dentist, but I would ring in and see if you can get it re-filled as an emergency appointment. I am also between stages with one, but had to delay the second half because I got tonsillitis, then the endodontist is now on holiday, so it’s ended up being five weeks of a gap in total. I was told to phone if the temp came out and one of the other dentists would see me. I may be wrong, but I think the danger is that it becomes contaminated.

Brilliant, thank you. I'll give them a ring in the morning.
