Rigevidon birth control and missing period

My apologies I’m advance as I’m not sure where else to post this on the forum.

Firstly I am writing this for my wife (and myself) as she doesn’t use online or keyboards that much.

Keeping it as brief as possible, though happy to ask questions, my wife is 46 and takes the Rigevidon pill for birth control. At the start of January she stopped her current cycle of pills and then found she didn’t have any more on prescription. Doctors couldn’t see her for a few weeks so was unable to start again.

Therefore our plan was to use other contraception for the month until her next period, ie about a month. Between the start of Jan and now we have only had sex once and that was with protection. Combination of work, both getting the flu at different times etc etc.

The problem is that she has not had another period and therefore not able to take her pills. We were of course worried for a while that she may be pregnant but have done a couple of tests the last few weeks all of which are negative

She has had some stomach pains, similar I her opinion to period pains and a headache which normally suggests one is coming but nothing.

She is a little worried but as it’s not an emergency the doctors can’t fit her in until April.

She is now going to try and see the pharmacist over the weekend but wondered if anyone has had a similar experience and also what the suggested approach is with retaking the pill as instructions make reference only to starting after a period or if you miss a day.

She and I are naturally worried she may be pregnant, although very unlikely, as we have done the child bearing years so not seeing doctor for a month is making her anxious

Probably worrying over nothing but would welcome thoughts and experience

You can start the pill at any time as long as she is sure she is not pregnant. You would need to take extra precautions for 7 days (if it is a combined pill)

When I stopped taking the contraceptive pill it took about 3 months for my period to return. During that time I had lots of period symptoms but no actual period. This is probably what is happening to your wife.

As a previous poster has said you can start the pill again any time, just use extra protection for 7 days
