I have had a virus for about three weeks. It started with a sore throat, then move to cold/flu symptoms then a cough. Yesterday I abruptly started having very sharp pain in my chest (heart area) whenever I breath in deeply or cough.

I have an important work think today that cannot be repeated and only I can do. Normally I’d just press on but recently a friend ended up with septicaemia after ignoring an infection.

Is this an emergency or can it wait until Monday (Sunday out of hours if it’s getting worse)?

Pneumonia? (symptoms) Maybe a doctors visit today, for antibiotics, or at least a phone call (probably followed by a doctors visit)?

Work cannot really truly be more important than your health, surely? Not all those ordinary desk jobs anyway.

Normally I wouldn’t worry about taking a morning to go the GP but the work thing is a presentation to a an important group of people in my field and it’s in another part of the country. I need to leave in 30mins if I’m to get there in time.

How did it go? Hope you're better now.
