Possible cyst on ovary

Sorry this is long!
Saw my gp on Friday and have been referred for a trans vaginal ultrasound next Friday as she thinks I might have a cyst.

I have been having deep pain after sex for a few months and the ovulation pain I usually feel for a few hours has been lasting longer each month. This month it's been hurting since day 9 and on day 15 after having sex was excruciating, it's still hurting now on day 19.

I've rapidly gone up 2 dress sizes around my waist and look 6 months pregnant. My abdomen is so swollen that I'm only comfortable lying down or standing up. Bending, crouching and sitting are uncomfortable/painful.

Is all this normal for a cyst? I'm so fed up.

Cysts fill up with fluid, and can become enormous if left untreated. The largest one I recall reading about in medical journals actually weighed more than the (emaciated) patient, when it was removed - over 40kg!
The pain is usually due to pressure from the cyst on your other organs, such as bladder or bowel, and you can get bloated with wind if it's compressing your bowel.
Once you've been scanned and diagnosed, the next step would be surgical removal of the cyst, which should relieve your symptoms.
