  • end of January my son started leaking poo from his bottom. *2nd February take him to the doctors and they said he's constipated and put him on movacol
  • carries on from 8-12 times a day. He also went off his food
  • 27th Feb back to the doctors they say he's not constipated and to take him off the movacol. Give him.as much healthy food as possible
  • today (6 days after the last doctor vist) it's still happening but not as often.

Has this happened to anyone else's child? Does anyone have and advice at all???

He's not done a poo since the end of Feb. Just leaking liquid. Both doctors said it was normal? My son is 4 next month.

Trying to bump this for you because it really doesn't sound normal to me.

Google ERIC.
Read all the information on there.
Google The poo nurses. Their video is excellent.
It does sound as if he has impaction with overflow. You need proper advice and support.
Some gps are helpful, others are not.

How is he in himself?
Is he still off food?
How does his abdomen look/feel?
Is he passing wind?
Are his liquid stools offensive?
What colour are they?

I would be asking for a referral to a paediatrician, it's not normal for a 4 year old.

As above post said look up Eric and go to their forum on healthunlocked, you will find many parents in similar shoes. Really helped me understand my child’s soiling issues and it was all related to constipation and withholding issues. This was confirmed by a specialist consultant after being given various conflicting advice from gps.

It can get better...hold onto that thought.

sounds like he needs a clear out with laxative, this is messy but worth it and then a maintenance dose daily for some time, a regular toilet routine, sitting after meals and reading on toilet (or something to keep engaged)
