My DS had a bout of really watery diarrhoea and again this morning (though not so watery this time - very smelly though). I'm confused as to whether or not I should keep him off milk and/or food or whether I should carry on as normal and just make sure he has plenty to drink. He's absolutely fine in himself.

He did also develop a dreadful bright red rash all over his tummy last night though - it was bumpy as well. It looked like nappy rash but he was only lying in a pool of wee for a few seconds - could it really happen that quickly? It's mostly gone this morning.

He had scrambled egg yesterday for lunch - could that cause these symptoms even though he's had egg twice before this week in other dishes? Or could this be caused by teething?

the first bout was last night, sorry, before his bath.

My 7mnth old has had this for 5 days. We went to gp's on 2nd day; she said food and milk as usual and offer extra water. As long as he is ok in himself she said it could last for up to 10 days!
He's fine, eating and taking all milk as usual, but he is teething too.

It stinks. In more ways than one...

10 days - OMG we're going away tomorrow!

Was there any rash AC or maybe that's unrelated?

No, no rash. My gp gave me a factsheet on gastroenteritis in children I just had a look - 3 pages long but it doesn't mention rashes.

Our daughter use to have it quite often at that age. Our doctor said to only give them liquids for 24 hours. If diarhoea gives them red bottom then only water, you are not even allowed to give them diluted juice. It really works. Daugther was okay with this, just don't eat in front of them yourself
