Painful itchy breast

I'm hoping someone might have some advice for me. Recently my nipple has become itchy and a bit scaly on one side. I have eczema which is quite bad at the moment so I assumed it was that. But a couple of weeks and on and my breast is quite sore on the same side as the itchiness. I can't feel any lumps. I will book a GP appointment on Monday. Anyone have any experience of this?

Please make an appointment.Don;t want to worry you too much. It will probably just be the eczema but there rare type of cancer which looks like eczema and starts on the nipple. Please remember that it is very unlikely to be this but really does need checking out.
Hope all is well.

Hi, I had that once and scratched the itch really badly. Went to gp and was referred to the beast clinic where they examined and did a mammogram. It was all fine and treated with steroid cream. Never did get to the bottom of what exactly it was but I do suffer from psoriasis so I guess it could've been related. Do make an appointment.

Please do have this checked out ASAP. It is probably dermatological but as PP says there is a rare cancer which presents in this way.

I've had this off an on for years. I never mentioned it to my gp past a brief 'my nipple seems to be itchy' but it comes and goes. No sinister repercussions here but you probably ought to get checked out.

Before getting into any kind of panic, do bear in mind that the skin on your nipple is very delicate and if you're prone to dry skin it's not surprising that you'd experience it there occasionally!

How did the appointment go? I have a similar thing and GP was very helpful. Do you run? Could be chaffing on sweaty sports bra!

I was puzzled by itchy sore breast on one side for several weeks and realised that it was shampoo/conditioner irritating it, I started to wash my hair leaning over shower tray and it cleared up.

Thanks you all for your advice. Still waiting on that GP appointment but not panicking quite as much.
