Our doctors has a bin by reception you can put urine samples in. Can you do this unsolicited or so you need to ring ahead. I've noticed there are slips to fill in when I noticed this in the past.
I can ring on Monday but just wondered what other surgeries do?

I would say you need to ring beforehand. I doubt they will just test any old pot of piss tbh.

Don't you have to get the sterile pot from them?

The surgery I go to has nothing like that - all samples (and they have to have been requested by a doctor or other HCP) have to be handed in over the counter with the form to go to the laboratory.
Whenever I’ve think I could have. UTI I get a sample pot from the surgery and then make an appointment to see the doctor the next day (easy to do at my surgery if you are prepared to queue for an appointment when the surgery opens) I take the sample with me to the appointment, the doctor dipsticks it and if it shows infection prescribes antibiotics with the proviso that if the results come back from the lab showing a different antibiotic is needed he/she will contact me.
