Period Pain - does anyone else get these sort of pains?

FLIER · 04/05/2007 16:46

Since having my 2 children I get pains in my pubic area, as if there is a heavy weight pulling down from inside. It is so painful to stand, walk or do anything else but sit down with a hot water bottle between my legs! . This month has been the worst yet, I'm feeling quite sick with the pain.
Does anyone out there have these symptoms/pains or can anyonw help? I know I should go to my GP and I will eventually, but .....

I have simiilar pain before children but nothing like what you describe now - still need to have a day in bed/strong painkillers etc, but I could walk etc if necessary.

You really must must go to your GP - that doesn't sound like just period pain especially if you didn't have bad pain before children.

I get pretty bad pain in my pubic area, it really, really aches like I have been kicked between my legs. It's not constant, just for an hour or so on the first or second day. Not nice Flier, I sympathise .

luckylady74 · 04/05/2007 17:51

sounds a bit like my endemetiosis pains before i had my mirena coil fitted

bobsmum · 04/05/2007 17:51

Make sure you describe everything - don't think you're time wasting or anything and don't play it down. Tell it like it is - like you've said here. you really musn't put up with something that debilitating on your own.

All the best

luckylady when I told my one of my rl friends about it today she said it sounded like her endometriosis pain, b4 she had her babies....thanks for your reply

Yes I suffer from this - I told dh yesterday it felt like there was a brick up there pushing down... It only happens the first day of my period though. But it was so bad yesterday I felt like crying & took painkillers which helped, as does sitting rather than standing or walking. I've only had this since having my 2nd child. Can you report back what your GP says if you don't mind?

FLIER · 04/05/2007 18:03

bobsyouruncle - thank goodness i'm not the only one!

Will try to remember to let you know.

I used to suffer this when I had an ordinary coil fitted and the consultant I saw about this changed it to a mirena coil because he said my body was rejecting it! Took months or agony and i felt like i was being a nusance at GPs but its sorted now.

Swabs and the like will not detect endometriosis if it is present. Its usually diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.

I would certainly describe your symptoms to your GP (keep a pain diary too) and if the GP is especially clueless (as they can be in such cases) insist that you are referred to a gynae for further evaluation.

Do not put up with it.

VeronicaMars · 04/05/2007 19:19

I have this every few months. Two months ago it was so bad that I was on my hands and knees and I honestly thought my insides were goin to come out. Had a smear and an internal scan since and everything showed up clear.

FLIER · 04/05/2007 20:13
