what is wrong with my fingers?

It started about 6 weeks ago with some swelling and a sore on the knuckle on the ring finger. Then the same thing on one finger on the other hand.
Then other fingers followed suit and also, I experienced some fingers going completely white then mauve.
I took my rings off when I first noticed the swelling and now, my ring finger is so swollen that my wedding ring will not go even close to my first knuckle.
They throb constantly and are really painful if I knock them or catch them on the inside of my hand bag for example.
The red sores are kind of scabby and rash like.
My thumbs are not affected at all I think and my little fingers are not too bad either.
Also, the lad of my middle finger is swollen.

Any ideas what this could be please?
I got the results of some blood tests today and they are all showing nothing untoward.
TIA

Are they chillblains? Could they be some sort of circulation issue?

TroysMammy · 02/03/2018 18:04

What does your GP think it is?

mckenzie · 02/03/2018 18:35

My GP thinks it’s Raynauds that’s causing the white/purple issues and also thought that the swelling and sores could be artritis (not to be confused with arthritis) but the blood tests do not support that diagnosis I think.
He’s left me with just the Raynaud diagnosis; I guess I’m hoping for another diagnosis, one that I can do something about.

Will he refer you, I may be wrong but I'm sure a Rheumatologist may deal with this.

Jellykat · 02/03/2018 20:14

Sounds exactly like Raynauds to me.
I have it, and the swelling sounds about right, i've had to cut rings off in the past because of it.

jalopy · 02/03/2018 20:19

Agree. Sounds like chilblains.

asneakysnickers · 02/03/2018 21:33

Raynauds ca be an autoimmune disorder, the swelling may be the start of another autoimmune disorder (rheumatism?) being triggered by something (inflammatory foods?)

Thanks for the replies. Is it strange that I’ve got it for the first time now? I’m in my early fifties.

Are there any creams that will help the sores? So far, I’ve tried Aloe Vera, calamine lotion, an eczema cream and normal hand cream but I’ve got the no relief.

Perhaps a pharmacist can advise you.

mckenzie · 03/03/2018 14:31

Jalopy, I went to three different pharmacists before troubling my GP.
One said arthritis and chilblains (that was when it was just two fingers involved) and the other two said that they had no idea and to see my GP.
