Dry Socket Help

I had a bottom molar removed last Thursday and was immediately diagnosed with dry socket after pain over the weekend.

I had it packed twice this week (Monday and Tuesday) with that awful tasting brown packing. I've taken the second lot of packing out today as I didn't want to get to the weekend to have it come out and suddenly be in pain again when the dentist isn't open.

My dilemma is that I don't actually know what's normal or not and the dentist isn't answering the phone. I'm not in a lot of pain although I can feel the area aching even though I've taken painkillers. I don't know whether to just leave it unpacked now and cope with the ache over the weekend or to try and get back to have it packed again.

Has anyone had their dry socket packed who can tell me what it should feel like after the packing's come out?
