I’ve had a mole removed on my shoulder today. The dermatologist told me to absolutely not lift, stretch or move it excessively until my stitches are removed in 12 days time. After that, heavy lifting is ruled out for the following few weeks to avoid stretching out the scar. I work in a school kitchen and a big part of my job is lifting, a lot of that is heavy lifting. There’s only me and one other lady that work there so I can’t really pass the lifting to her as she is really busy doing her part of the job. Am I asking for trouble by continuing to lift/heavy lift? The stitches are in such a place that the slightest move of my arm seems to be aggravating the area as it’s right on the joint. I don’t want to rip my stitches out but at the same time, without lifting and moving my arm/shoulder excessively, my job is near impossible. I don’t know what to do, I can’t afford to be off. Will I be okay still lifting and I’m just being over cautious? Or is there anything I can do (strap my shoulder up somehow) to help?
