painful thumb

This seems so minor and a waste of time to go to the doctors. My right thumb on the flesh, near the top of the nail seems to in a cycle of getting very sore and peeling, the skin cracking with a painful fissure, healing, then doing it again a couple of weeks later. This is the 4th or 5th time it’s cracked since the new year. My hands are well moisturised and no other painful bits. It’s always exactly the same small patch, and the crack is always in the same place. I have to keep it covered as it’s so sore and in a really annoying place.

I’m a bit stumped at what I can do to help it heal and prevent it from happening again. Any thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem on the same thumb! It’s been going on for a few years but as you say, it seems too minor to bother GP with. Sorry, no solution- was on here to find out how I can treat it. Have you made any progress?
