Period every 2 weeks - very worried

Hi all,

I am a 28 year old woman with a 2.5 year old daughter. DH and I decided to start TTC in June last year. At that point I had my Mirena coil removed and had my first period, since having the coil fitted after the birth of my daughter, about 3 weeks later.

Since then I have had a period every 2/3 weeks. I have been using OPKs on and off and have so far never had what I believe to be a strong positive. I have become increasingly concerned about the frequent bleeding and this week I visited the GP for the 2nd time. This time the GP has ordered blood tests, a scan and wants to do another examination. She seemed fairly concerned.

My question is has anyone experienced this before? And what could it be?

I have googled it which is probably a mistake but am seriously worried about my fertility and also possible anemia as a result of such frequent periods.

Thank you for any help or answer you may have.

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you're having crazy periods.
I am also having crazy periods, and have been for a few years. Mine are due to early menopause. My blood tests showed my hormones levels were at 90, which means that's what's occurring.
I mean maybe you're not, so you know any family history?
Try not to worry so much and googling is naughty.
Have you had the blood tests yet?

I hope it all turns out ok.
Let me know.
Good luck x

Yes early menopause is one of the things I saw could cause this. I don't think anyone in my family has had this and had not considered it being a possibility until I googled. I went for the blood test yesterday so hopefully I will have some answers by next week.

Do you mind me asking how old you were when you found out it was early menopause causing your weird periods?

Hi I was 39, my mum was 37.
My sister also 38.
I hope the results are ok.
It's awful, worrying.
Fingers crossed it'll just be something simple and easily sorted x
