I need a filling in a top premolar, nhs will obviously be amalgam and a six week wait to have the therapist do it. White filling costing £130 can be done sooner by the actual dentist.
What are the benefits to a white one, pros, cons? It will be partially seen when I smile.
Also forking out £48 for a hygeniest appointment to remove all the plaque. So I really would like opinions if I’m paying more for vanity and to be seen faster.

This post will be very controversial, but I'll say it anyway:
Do you want mercury sitting 24/7 in your mouth? It really depends on whether you feel comfortable with it. It is very unlikely to cause you any harm (I have yet to see a single reputable study that says that there's anything wrong with them), but anecdotally, I have headaches less often than before I had my amalgam filling changed to a composite one. It might, or might not, have anything to do with that. Of course the white filling will look better than an amalgam one, although people are unlikely to notice.
