Hope this is the right section! I've been wearing glasses for 10 years, firstly just for reading then varifocals as my distance sight deteriorated. Anyway, I've just had my cataracts done which means I should only need reading glasses. I like wearing glasses and I hate removing them when I'm not reading, losing them etc. I was wondering if I could have glasses that I wear all the time but just for reading - I guess like varifocals but with no prescription for distance. Is there such a thing? Sorry for sounding a bit daft but if there is I'd like to know what to ask for at the opticians when I have my check up! Thanks

Yes lots of people wear varifocals with little or no prescription for distance to avoid the inconvenience of putting on and taking off glasses. Just explain what you want when you go to the optician.

Mysillydog thank you so much. I really didn't know if I was asking for something 'normal'.
