he sounds fairly incompetent. The DOCTOR should be calling you, not the receptionist. Why don't you call if he hasn't called back in ten minutes NHS Direct.

Should have read:

Why don't you call NHS Direct if he hasn't called back in ten minutes .

UPDATE
After ariving home about 7pm from dropping urine sample off at hopsital DS started shaking/shivering like he was cold. I checked his temp and it was 40oC, at this point he was laid on the sofa still shaking but drifting off at which point his dummy fell out and his lips were blue. I rang NHS direct who called and ambulance, it took about 25mins by which point he had stopped shaking and had fallen asleep. they were nice but said they had other calls to attend to and could we take him to A&E ourselves, which we did.
we were seen very quickly but the A&E doc just sent us upstairs to see the pediatrician who was very nice and said he had had a febrial convultion due to his temp but he should be ok. She then examined him to discover he has got toncillitis. I didn't realise til then but the GP didnt even look in his mouth, eyes or ears when we went eariler on in the day.
anyway he was kept in overnight for observation and started on the right antibiotics. His swabs came back ok so he finishes he meds tomorrow thank god coz he hates taking them (I dont blaime him they taste awfull!!)
He is now back to his normal cheeky self, and I want to thank everyone who helped me with my 'episode'. And yes I will be changing doctors!!
