Help. My GP's surgery is so bloody useless I don't want to go back unless armed with some suggestions. I had something like tonsilitis two weeks ago (actually I've had my tonsils out but it was painful enough to be tonsilitis iykwim) - complete with fevers and everything. I had to delay my return to work after 7 months maternity leave which was pretty embarrassing.

Anyway, symptoms subsiding but the sore throat keeps reappearing. 15 days is starting to seem a bit ridiculous. What could it be? I have some antiseptic spray but it's not doing much. Any suggestions?

My sympathies no real help but- coincidentally I had a really bad throat infection fevers etc(with tonsillitis) at about the return to work point and it coincided with giving up bf and developing slight mastitis.

Thrush?

Seems to be a lot of herpes going around at the moment. It's same family as cold sores, shingles and chicken pox I think. You need antibiotics and a local anaesthetic spray would help. Go back to your GP's.

Hope you feel better soon x

I had this, for about 6 weeks, also had blocked ear. All symptoms eventually left, apart from the re-occuring sore throat. I then got another wollop with a flu bug, which I had to take a week off work after two weeks returning from 9 months maternity leave too! Now I feel fine, apart from glue ear.

Dr told me it was a horrid bug going round, virus therefore gave me nothing for it! However, he never gives any medication for anything, so might be worth checking with Dr. DP had it too, and it did clear, but took another bug to override it.

Not nice is it?

We have all been struck down with a similar thing that seems to cause re-occurring cold symptoms. I'm pretty sure it's a sinus infection. I've had it around 2 mths now - various sore throats, sinus pains, coughs, snuffles and - on two occasions - flu like symptoms.

Ease off on the BJs?

Gargle with a hydrogen peroxide solution - it tastes like shit but the bacteria will be gone and you will feel so much better!!
