Flu/Ear infection HELL

So four days ago I came down with flu, hard. I've been vomiting, hot/cold, temps of 39, diarrhoea, chesty cough and hacking up phlegm all week.. (tmi sorry) literally just been dozing up and trying to sleep it off.

Woke up at 2am this morning/last night with agonising pain in my left ear going down the side of my face and an extremely loud ringing noise. Now I'm not one to waste A&Es time but it was excruciating. I was in hysterics while DP drove me to the hospital. Couldn't believe when they said ear infection it really hurt so much I thought my ear drum had burst or something.

Anyway I'm dosed up on strong painkillers and sudafed. Taken 2 amoxicillin from a course of 21 and the pain has subsided. Thank god. However my ear is still popped, the loud ringing noise is back sooo badly and when I talk it's like I hear it back through the ear slightly delayed? And my voice sound robotic? I can't take this for days. It's one of those infuriating uncomfortable things but it's literally in my head. I've tried everything I could find on google for unpopping ears to no avail... a few days of this will drive me mad 😭

You poor thing. I had this two weeks ago with flu. Didn’t go to A&E though but was excruciatingly painful in the night. Also ear infection. Since then, the ear has got better (quickly actually, just 3 days I think) but I’m still off work with a chest infection.
Hope you feel better soon.

@parrotonmyshoulder Oh god.. I'd never of thought I'd go to A&E for something so petty. I couldn't stop apologising once I was there and they told me. Felt so awful, I've had ear infections before but never any that hurt even half as much as this. I can hear double out the ear and the left ear feels like I'm deep underwater.. I'm glad the pain is eased with meds but this feeling is just awful!

Oh god I need help 😭

Antibiotics and painkillers subsided the pain from the ear infection but after originally clearing up my sickness is back with a vengeance and worse than before. I've been throwing up all week but it was just mucus when I was coughing, now I'm actually throwing up violently. Haven't been able to keep any food down. Whereas the first few days of flu I slept it off, I can't sleep. I'm also having random pains in my arms and jaw. I have a headache and just overall feel crap - but somehow a totally different kind of crap to the rest of this week. 😭

luelle, don't ask advice here, lovely. We can't see you and we don't know how unwell you are. Phone 111 and let them go through the triage with you. Tell them what happened yesterday, that you got a bit better and now you feel much worse. If you have a thermometer, take your temperature. If you have a watch with a second hand and you know how to take your pulse, do that, so you can tell them how fast your heart is beating. Don't worry if you can't, though. Just phone 111, and tell them you feel very unwell. Now Flowers.
