I've had to leave him to come home for the kids. I'm so scared. Didn't want to leave him.
I can't beleive this. He's had meningitus once already. How unlucky can a person be.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. Hope he is quick to recover - how long before they are able to confirm what it is?

Try and get some sleep or you will feel even worse in the morning.

lemonaid · 03/05/2007 00:58

Do they think it's viral or bacterial?

Poor both of you -- it is particularly bad luck.

They think it's meningococcal meningitis. They have given him the antibiotics and are deciding whether to do a lumbar puncture tonight or in the morning. He had a chest xray earlier.

berolina · 03/05/2007 15:49

Thoughts here too.

SugaryBits · 03/05/2007 20:09

He had the brain scan and lumbar puncture today, he is needle phobic so was a complete mess. They have got some of the results back and it is definately a viral infection, probably viral meningitus. They have sent some fluid to another hospital for further tests. They said he would be in for about a week.

On the up side, he seems so much better today. He has had something to eat and I helped him have a shower. They have given him some anti viral drugs and loads of pain killers for his headache so he is feeling alot better than yesterday.

The dc are OK, DS1 (3.5) is upset we can't go camping this weekend and is missing daddy. I have told him he is at the doctors. He doesn't really understand, I don't really know what to say to him. They are both in bed now so I am going to have something to eat then try to get some sleep. Thanks again for all the good wishes x

Glad things are looking up - if only a bit. Hope he continues to improve.

LittleEgg · 03/05/2007 20:40

Oh really pleased he is feeling better and looks set to make a good recovery. Poor you and DC but hopefully daddy will be back in a week. How long ago did he last have meningitis?

franca70 · 03/05/2007 20:47

I'm glad he is feeling better

SugaryBits · 03/05/2007 21:14

He had meningitis, just realised I've been spelling that wrong, around 15 years ago. They didn't confirm if it was bacterial or viral but treated him for both. He doesn't remember much as he was unconscious for afew days.

I have just spoken to him, he's tired but OK.
